About the Client

North End Taproom is a place where you can learn about the local foods and drinks.* They are located in Royal Oak, MI and they offer different types of craft beer, wine, kombucha and more on their self-pour beverage wall. Customers can try out freshly baked bread from the neighboring bakery and other goodies as well.

My Role

My goal as a designer for this project was to create a logo that represents North End Taproom as a brand in a minimalistic style (a request made by the client).

Research

During my research into Royal Oak, where the taproom is, I learned a lot about the city’s history and how it got its name from the oak tree.

I looked into the meaning of the oak tree with the client’s wish to have a local feel to the logo in mind, using an oak tree as inspiration came to me naturally. Oak trees are known as a symbol of knowledge. North End Taproom fits this concept well since this is a place where people can enjoy their food and drinks while learning about the stories behind them.

Branding Concept

For the design concept, I went with a minimalistic style to match North End Taproom’s atmosphere. The branches are parallel to each other and are in a shape of a half-circle. All of the line weights of the tree are the same.
